The Golden Rule After Pool Days: Hungry Stomachs Need Sushi!

What’s up, everybody! Dady Joy here!

After playing hard at Oiso Long Beach, the moment we got in the car, our whole family started the chorus: “We’re hungry!” Well of course we are! After all that swimming, we’re absolutely starving!

Then I had a brilliant idea! “Hey guys, we’re near the ocean, let’s eat some fish!” The kids got super excited shouting “Sushi! Sushi!” Alright then, time to check Google Maps!

I was shocked when I saw the ratings! 4.2 stars with tons of reviews! This looks promising! Decision made: “Fujimaru Isehara”! It’s about 20 minutes from Oiso Long Beach by car. Let’s go!

Fujimaru Exterior

Look at this exterior! The sign says “Live Horse Mackerel,” “Live Shellfish,” “Live Fish,” and “Local Fish”! So much “Live”! FRESH! So FRESH! This is getting me excited!

When we arrived… Oh my god! It’s packed! That’s what you get with a highly-rated restaurant!

But hey, modern convenience is amazing! We got a ticket at the store and they said “30-minute wait,” but I said “No problem!” because good food is worth waiting for!

And get this! With this ticket, you can check the wait time on your smartphone - super convenient! You get real-time updates like “10 minutes left.” Technology rocks!

The kids were saying “How much longer?” but I showed them my phone and said “Look, just a little bit more!” to reassure them. “Good things come to those who wait!” I taught them. That’s English practice too, right? (lol)

Opening with Aburi Saba! This is Professional Technique!

Aburi Saba

BOOM! Look at this aburi saba! Beautiful!

The surface is lightly torched with a burner, and that smoky aroma is incredible! The momiji oroshi on top is perfect! Right in my sweet spot!

When they said “We also have regular shimesaba,” I immediately said “Both please!” I mean, I want to compare them! After a day at the pool, I can handle however many plates!

My wife was worried saying “You’re going to eat too much again,” but I said “Today’s special! Special day!” (lol).

Kids Totally Satisfied! The Joy of Conveyor Belt Sushi!

Our kids love natto maki and tekka maki. “Papa, seconds!” “One more plate!” they kept eating like crazy!

I was checking the plate count and wait… there are more than before! “Hey, when did you grab those?” I asked, and they said “Because it’s delicious!” That’s my kids!

Jumbo Shrimp Arrives! This is Art!

Jumbo Shrimp

WOW WOW WOW! Check this out!

Look at these jumbo shrimp! JUMBO SIZE! This is pure art! The contrast between the red and white is absolutely beautiful!

The kids had sparkling eyes saying “Amazing! So big!” When they asked “Can I have one?” I said “Of course! We’re sharing!” If I came alone I could have all three plates to myself, but eating together with everyone is fun in its own way!

Incredibly Thick Unagi! Is This Really Conveyor Belt Sushi Level?

Unagi

OH MY GOD! Isn’t this unagi incredible?

Look at this thickness! That glossy sauce! It’s hanging off the plate! I asked “Is this really conveyor belt sushi?” like three times!

One bite and… fluffy! melty! That sweet and savory sauce is perfect! I shouted “This is heaven!” The person next to me was startled, but when something’s delicious, you gotta say it!

And with this thickness and texture, could this be domestic eel? I wanted to ask “Excuse me, is this domestic?” but it was melting in my mouth so I didn’t have time to ask! (lol)

Still Moving! Aji Sashimi Excitement!

Aji Sashimi

This was the biggest surprise! It’s aji sashimi but… it’s still moving! STILL MOVING!

When I tried to take a photo, the fish went twitch-twitch, so I was like “Wait wait wait!” and the camera went out of focus! I frantically took another shot! (lol) Just how fresh is this thing?!

When I showed the kids saying “Look! It’s so fresh!” they were a bit scared at first, but when I explained “This proves how fresh it is,” they got super curious! “Papa, it really moved!” they were so excited!

The meat was so tender and juicy, and with the ginger it was absolutely perfect! This is the power of “live fish”! The photo came out blurry, but the taste was perfect! Fujimaru, you rock!

Incredible Value! 200% Satisfaction!

In the end, our family of four went through quite a few plates, but when I saw the bill, I was shocked!

“Wait, that’s it?” I couldn’t help but ask. Compared to conveyor belt sushi in central Tokyo, this quality at this price is seriously a bargain! Plus free parking - it’s perfect!

The kids were completely satisfied saying “That was delicious!” “We want to come again!” Even my wife, who rarely gives praise, said “This place is a winner!” Yes! Dad’s choice was a huge success!

Birth of Our New Summer Tradition!

I declared in the car on the way home: “This is our new summer tradition!”

Play at Oiso Long Beach, then sushi at Fujimaru! This is the ultimate combo! Even when pool season ends, we’re definitely coming back! I mean, there aren’t many places where the whole family can smile like this!

When the kids asked “Papa, when are we going next?” I answered “Next week?” and my wife scolded me saying “Don’t get carried away” (lol).

But seriously, encounters with places that make you think “I want to come back!” are the best. Fujimaru Isehara, you got a new regular customer!

Keep eating and stay happy! Dady Joy out! BOOM!

P.S. On the ride home, the kids fell asleep saying “Today was fun.” Playing at the pool, eating delicious sushi, everyone laughing together. This was the perfect holiday I was looking for! I’m definitely going to be sore tomorrow, but that’s all part of the amazing memories!
